In 2017, Infura was processing +300MM eth_calls per day. Since then, we’ve scaled our architecture to over 2B eth_calls per day during the recent DeFi activity spike of 2020. Our increased ability to handle such high volumes, in part, comes down to our approach to scaling methods like eth_call.
We’re happy to share that IPFS 0.5, the largest upgrade to the IPFS protocol and Public Network yet, is now available on the Infura IPFS service. The upgrade offers major performance and reliability updates so that you can distribute content peer-to-peer more efficiently.
These improvements result in new protocol upgrades, like the upcoming Istanbul Fork. This upgrade brings improvements in layer 2 performance, increased resilience against DDoS attacks, greater interoperability between Ethereum and Zcash, and enables more inventive functions within contracts.
